Proton has released a follow-up discussing the Proton X90 grounding issue in addition to the company's August sales performance. Production of the Proton X90 was slightly delayed as a result of the grounding recall, but it is anticipated that everything will resume normally this month.
Just to refresh your memory, a video of a Proton X90 catching fire in the trunk area recently appeared on various social media platforms, which alarmed X90 customers as well as pretty much everyone else. After investigating the vehicle, Proton found that a grounding problem was what had caused the mishap. To address the grounding issue, Proton swiftly issued a recall for the Proton X90.
Customers can be assured by Proton that the fire was not started by the hybrid battery of the Proton X90. Proton has contacted customers of the X90 through its nationwide 3S and 4S centers.
The 4 Proton X90 variants—Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship—were introduced in May of this year. Since the Proton X90 is the brand's first hybrid vehicle, many people immediately theorized that the hybrid battery was what started the fire in the popular video.
The Proton X90 offers various Proton-first features to its consumers in addition to being the brand's first hybrid vehicle. Rear-cross traffic alert (RCTA), rear collision warning (RCW), traffic sign information (TSI), and walk-away lock function are a few of these features.
The Proton X90 is available in 6-seater (Flagship) and 7-seater (Standard, Executive, Premium) versions, with prices ranging from RM123,800 for the entry-level Standard variation to RM152,800 for the Flagship variant. As the brand's large family vehicle, the Proton X90 inadvertently replaces the Proton Exora.
